2016 is poised to become the year of virtual reality. Of course virtual reality isn't a new concept, but with reasonably priced innovations from Samsung and Sony soon to be released, VR might soon be going mainstream. According to Inverse, consumer analysts estimate that 1.2 million units will be sold in 2016, rocketing to 200 million by 2020.
But what are the real applications of such technology, and what type of worlds will virtual reality allow you to explore? In a VR world, you can be a passenger on the historic Apolo 11 mission, walk through a Vincent van Gogh painting, or run between the legs of dinosaurs.
