CNA presented a check for $15,000 to Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs (NBT), the educational foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), in support of its summer manufacturing camps. The presentation was made during the annual NBT Golf4MFG charity event held at the Itasca Country Club.
The mission of NBT is to engage, nurture and excite individuals of all ages in the pursuit of careers within the manufacturing industry.
To engage youth, NBT sponsors an annual series of manufacturing summer camps dedicated to introducing junior high and high school students to the career opportunities available in manufacturing and the skills and training they require. This summer, campers attended one of the twenty camps held on community and technical college campuses across the country, where they learned specific manufacturing-related skills that will help them understand and appreciate the value of a career based on designing, planning and constructing tangible products. Camps are multifaceted and offer instruction in CAD design, welding, robotics, and a variety of other manufacturing technologies, as well as practical instruction in career development and ways to harness entrepreneurial initiative.
Protecting electrical controls and equipment within food and beverage plants presents unique challenges due to the sanitation requirements of the hygienic environment.
