July 14, 2014

SEEK is a program engineered to encourage Chicago students to become more involved in STEM education this summer.

STEM is finally gaining the attention from the educational system in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. Teachers and students are captivated by the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK), a three-week summer engineering program geered toward STEM education.

The program launched on July 7 at the Miles Davis Magnet Academy, which encourages engineering and the other aspects of STEM. Students create gizmos and gadgets at SEEK and compete for the most imaginitive invention at the end of the summer.

Chicago was not the first in the loop for SEEK; Alexandria, VA was where the program originated in 2007. Now the program holds fast in 11 states.

The Society of Automotive Engineers International and volunteers from Chicago NSBE Professionals chapter will be sponsoring and educating at the Englewood location.
