Visit to eSight Energy Management Road Show - Chicago

June 5, 2012
Plant Services Editors met the morning of May 30, 2012 with eSight Energy (esightenergy.com) and and OPTO 22 (opto22.com) to discuss advances in commercial building energy management. Factory energy management has received a lot of attention in recent years, as it should have. According to Lance Dailey, VP Sales of eSight Energy, though, commercial buildings other than factories consume about 20% of US energy. This makes them an exciting opportunity for greening of many organizations, as well as substantial cost reduction.
According to Lance, 5 to 20% reductions in energy usage are routinely achieved in commercial sites with ROIs that often pay for the investment in one to two years. Arun Sinha, OPTO 22 Director of Business Development demonstrated some of the interface and communication equipment that collects data from sensors and helps to move it to the web over normal networking infrastructure, both CAT5 and wireless. Arun indicates that this simplicity and flexibility are important parts of keeping the system investment modest and the reliability high. eSight has an office at 1931 N.
