PdM survey results are ready for you. Are you ready for them?

A PdM survey shouldn't be that big of a deal, but we're excited about the results of the one we conducted jointly with ARC Advisory Group (www.arcweb.com). The response was excellent, and we're almost ready to start sharing the information that was gathered.

A PdM survey shouldn't be that big of a deal, but we're excited about the results of the one we conducted jointly with ARC Advisory Group (www.arcweb.com). The response was excellent, and we're almost ready to start sharing the information that was gathered.

Next Thursday, June 14, Paula Hollywood, senior analyst at ARC, will be the lead presenter in a webinar that will explain what we learned and allow companies to mark where they are along the curve.
You can register for that webinar on Predictive Technology here: http://webcast.streamlogics.com/audience/index.asp?eventid=53496950.

You’ll also find more information in our July issue of Plant Services, as Paula pens our cover story, explaining the survey results and breaking down the data.

Need to be tantalized? Here are a few tidbits from the survey that might pique your interest.

We’re all committed to quantifying the economic impact that proactive maintenance and reliability practices have on profitability, but it was disconcerting to find that the two biggest obstacles to implementation of PdM were budget constraints and undefined financial benefits, according to the survey. Paula surely will sort through the irony of that.

Not surprisingly, the four most deployed PdM technologies were oil analysis, infrared, vibration, and ultrasonic, according to the survey results. Two-thirds of the respondents are using oil analysis, infrared, and vibration, while almost half are using ultrasonic, indicating that these technologies are being put to complementary use to monitor equipment health in industrial plants.
