The Eggo Company will be forced to pay $85,000 after being convicted and sentenced for releasing toxic gas from a San Jose factory. The incident, which occurred in January, happened when a damaged pipe released 3,400 pounds of anhydrous ammonia into the area.

Accounting to the County of Santa Clara's Office of the District Attorney, the company was charged with "negligently discharging an air contaminant, failing to immediately report that release, providing inadequate training to its contractors, and failing to implement an adequate emergency action plan."
