Honeywell and Arbin Instruments partner to improve large-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing
Sept. 12, 2023
Honeywell claims that this collaboration will help battery manufacturers increase throughput of battery cells while reducing floor space and saving energy costs.
Honeywell will be partnering with Arbin Instruments in hopes of improving its Battery Manufacturing Excellence Platform (MXP). The partnership will integrate Arbin’s advanced autonomous formation system into the MXP for lithium-ion battery manufacturers and gigafactories. Honeywell claims that this collaboration will help battery manufacturers increase throughput of battery cells while reducing floor space and saving energy costs. The partnership will also allow MXP to optimize dynamic performance assessment and lithium-ion battery cell formation and finishing.
In a recent quote, Brian Reynolds, Chief Technology Officer of Honeywell Projects & Automation Systems, said, “Honeywell’s advanced autonomous formation systems will enable lithium-ion battery manufacturers to accelerate the world’s transition to renewables and electrification by increasing yields of their facilities. Collaborating with Arbin allows Honeywell to provide an end-to-end approach for gigafactory operators in need of cost effective, quality battery production.”
