The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded an $837,877 grant to Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs (NBT). The foundation, which is part of the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA), will use the fund to expand its scholarship and manufacturing camp programs. In addition, the grant money will be used to support the research and development of new initiatives designed to help people explore careers in manufacturing. NBT claims that the fund will increase scholarship programs by 55%, increase summer manufacturing camps by 20%, and increase inclusion manufacturing camps by 25%.
In a recent quote, Ed Youdell, president and CEO of NBT, said, "NBT is poised for transformational growth over the next three years as the NIST award will fund NBT's mission to inspire, encourage, and support the next generation of manufacturing workers. We are incredibly honored to receive this award, knowing that NIST has entrusted us to continue our good work of building the manufacturing workforce for the future."
