Northrop Grumman to build advanced electronics manufacturing and testing facility in Virginia

An $8.5 million grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund was approved to help Waynesboro secure the project.
Northrop Grumman Corporation has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing and testing facility in Waynesboro, Virginia. The company, which specializes in aerospace and defense technology, will invest $200 million into the project, generating 300 new jobs over the next five years. An $8.5 million grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund was approved to help Waynesboro secure the project. Finding qualified employees to work at the new plant will be aided by the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program. The program was created by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership in collaboration with the Virginia Community College System to help new facilities with recruitment and training.
In a recent quote, Kathy Warden, chair, chief executive officer and president, Northrop Grumman, said, “This new facility will increase capacity to manufacture and test advanced electronics and mission solutions to meet our customers’ growing needs. We are pleased to expand our technology presence in the Commonwealth and look forward to welcoming more people to our mission-driven team.”
