SOLARCYCLE to open $344 million solar glass manufacturing facility in Georgia
SOLARCYCLE has announced plans to open a new solar glass manufacturing facility in Cedartown, Georgia. The solar recycling company will invest $344 million into the project, creating 600 new jobs in the process. According to SOLARCYCLE, the new plant will use recycled materials from retired solar panels to make new solar glass. The company can allegedly extract 95% of the value from used solar panels. The Georgia facility will focus on the production of specialized glass for crystalline-silicon (c-Si) photovoltaics and will have the capacity to make five to six gigawatts worth of solar glass every year. Construction will begin in 2024, with operations starting in 2026.
In a recent quote, Suvi Sharma, CEO and Co-Founder of SOLARCYCLE, said, “There is no question that solar panel manufacturing is booming in the State of Georgia. We are thrilled to join the team and build our recycled solar glass plant in Cedartown, which will bring hundreds of good-paying jobs to Georgia and help the industry in its goals to build fully American-made clean energy solutions. We look forward to continued collaboration with the State of Georgia and the City of Cedartown.”
