Pratt & Whitney invests $20 million to expand GTF MRO capacity at Florida facility
Pratt & Whitney has announced plans to increase the GTF maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capacity of its West Palm Beach Engine Center in Florida. The company, which is an RTX business, will invest $20 million into the project, which is expected to yield a 40% increase in capacity. To accomplish its goals, Pratt & Whitney plans to increase its workforce by 25% and add new critical equipment throughout various areas of the facility, including machining, test, clean and warehousing. In 2021, Pratt & Whitney transformed its West Palm Beach plant into a GTF MRO engine center that featured an automated system that assembles the high-pressure compressor (HPC) rotor and a redefined overhead engine handling system. The expansion is expected to be completed in 2025.
