3 workers injured in explosion at Johnson Controls manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania
An explosion has occurred at the Johnson Controls Inc. manufacturing plant in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. Rachael Lardani for WGAL News 8 is reporting that the explosion occurred at 7:32 a.m. in the 100 block of Cumberland Valley Avenue and injured three workers. According to Amber South for The Record Herald, two of the injured employees were airlifted from the plant, with one being taken to WellSpan York Hospital and the other to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore. The third worker was driven by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Maryland. This information was provided by Mary Kay Seville, assistant director of the emergency services department. Kayleigh Johnson and Cale Ahearn for FOX43 say that the cause of the explosion has yet to be identified. OSHA and other authorities, however, are investigating the scene.
The company, which provides digital technologies and services to help make buildings smarter, safer, and more sustainable, made a statement, which was reported by George Stockburger for ABC27. “The safety and well-being of our employees is our top priority, and we are actively assessing the situation and working with local response teams. We will provide more information as appropriate as we learn more.”
