Boeing company to expand composite components manufacturing plant in Mississippi
Aurora Flight Sciences has announced plans to expand its manufacturing facility in Columbus, Mississippi. Aurora, which is a Boeing company that specializes in manufacturing advanced composite components and assemblies for military and commercial aircraft, will expand its existing plant by 50,000 square feet. The expansion also includes renovation of 40,000 square feet of existing space, and new automation equipment, robotics, and non-destructive inspection technologies. The expansion will help increase volume in composite components for executive jets, as well as increase production of MQ-25 Stingray composite skins and components for NASA’s X-66 sustainable flight demonstrator aircraft. As part of the project, Aurora will create 60 new jobs for the surrounding area.
