Mechanical contractor invests $3.5 million to build new manufacturing facility in Louisiana
Process Service Specialists (PSS) has announced plans to open a manufacturing plant at the Port of Lake Charles in Louisiana. The industrial mechanical contractor will invest $3.5 million into the project, creating 160 new jobs for the surrounding area. According to the company, the new plant will provide steel, piping and comprehensive services to its commercial and industrial customers. PSS serves a range of industries, including welding, piping, shop fabrication, water treatment and food and beverage manufacturing. Construction on the facility has already begun, and operations are expected to begin later this year. To help support the project, PSS received a $750,000 performance-based award from the state’s Economic Development Award Program, as well as other incentives. Additionally, the company is anticipated to participate in Louisiana’s Industrial Tax Exemption and Quality Jobs programs.
What people are saying
In a recent quote, PSS Chief Executive Officer Keith Harrison said, “Process Service Specialists is excited about the opportunities in the Lake Charles market. We are very appreciative of the support provided by both the State of Louisiana and the Port of Lake Charles in establishing our presence.”
Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois added, “We thank PSS for choosing to build at the Port of Lake Charles, where the creation of high-paying jobs will help support the southwest Louisiana economy. This expansion is a powerful illustration of the ripple effect that manufacturing investments have on our state’s economy, resulting in more than 300 additional jobs that support the work being done at this new facility. This project is a win, not only for 160 new PSS employees with the opportunity for ever-growing wages, but for the economic activity that will be stimulated across the city, parish and region.”
