Hitachi Energy invests $155M into 3 manufacturing facilities in Mexico, Virginia, and Pennsylvania
Hitachi Energy has announced plans to expand its manufacturing capacity in North America. The company will invest $155 million into the initiative, which includes building a new $70 million distribution transformer factory in Reynosa, Mexico. The plant will address the need for single-phase, padmount distribution transformers. Additionally, Hitachi Energy will invest over $25 million to expand its transformer factory in South Boston, Virginia, increasing the production capacity for large distribution transformers.
Finally, the company will invest $60 million to expand its high-voltage switchgear and breakers factory in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania. The project is anticipated to double production capacity for high-voltage switchgear and breakers, including dead tank breakers, gas-insulated switchgear, and hybrid switchgear. The three projects will create 350 new jobs in Reynosa, 100 new jobs in South Boston, and 100 new jobs in Mount Pleasant.
