Sofidel has announced plans to expand manufacturing operations in Duluth, Minnesota. The company, which produces tissue paper, will invest $200 million into the project, generating 160 new jobs for the surrounding area. According to the company, the investment will be used to expand and upgrade its existing facility where raw materials are processed, manufactured, and packaged into finished goods such as paper towels, bath tissues, and napkins. Construction on the expansion, which includes an automated warehouse for product storage and distribution, will begin later this year with completion expected in 2026.
To help support the project, Sofidel will receive $5 million in business expansion funding from the State of Minnesota. This money will come from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development’s (DEED) Job Creation Fund (JCF) and Minnesota Investment Fund (MIF).
