Microporous invests $1.35B to build a new manufacturing facility in Virginia
Microporous LLC has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. The company, which manufactures battery separators, will invest $1.35 billion into the project, creating 2,015 new jobs in the process. The new facility will be completed in two phases, with each facility phase being approximately 500,000 square feet. To help support the project, Microporous will be eligible to receive an MEI Commission-approved special appropriation of up to $60.6 million. In addition, the company is eligible for up to $25 million in low-interest financing from the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission to bring major natural gas service to the project, as well as state grants from The Port of Virginia.
