Siemens invests $190M to open electrical equipment manufacturing facility in Texas
Siemens has opened a $190 million electrical equipment manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas. The site, which is part of Siemens Smart Infrastructure, will produce reliable electrical equipment, such as low-voltage switchboards, to meet the growing demand driven by the data center market and America’s expanding AI sector. The facility spans 500,000 square feet and has already added 480 new jobs, with plans to reach 800 positions by 2026.
The Fort Worth facility stands as a model of sustainable manufacturing, operating as a carbon-neutral site. It incorporates an all-electrical powder-coat paint line, electric forklifts, low-energy HVAC systems, photovoltaic streetlights, and advanced energy monitoring. Additionally, it uses energy-efficient LuxWall windows, backed by Breakthrough Energy, to help reduce energy consumption and costs.
Siemens is committed to developing the future workforce for this manufacturing plant by leveraging talent from the education sector. Former schoolteachers and principals play a key role in training employees, creating innovative curriculum and training methods that speed up the transition from classroom to shop floor.
The company also utilized Siemens’ Digital Industries Software, including Technomatix’s 3D models, to optimize the production flow at the facility, ensuring high-quality production processes and efficient manufacturing.
