Mission Solar Energy invests $265M to expand solar cell manufacturing facility in Texas

April 10, 2025
The company announces plans to increase solar cell production capacity in San Antonio, creating 500 new jobs by 2026.

Mission Solar Energy has announced plans to invest $265 million to expand its manufacturing capabilities at its campus in San Antonio, Texas. The company, which produces solar photovoltaic modules, will add 2 gigawatts (GW) of solar cell production capacity, creating 500 new jobs in the process. This expansion, set for completion in early 2026, will involve manufacturing solar cells using polysilicon sourced from OCI TerraSus, produced with clean hydropower to ensure an environmentally sustainable and ethically responsible supply chain. A previously announced expansion at the company’s Texas campus was completed in May 2024 that increased the company’s production capacity, helping to meet the growing demand for domestic solar solutions. The 200,000-square-foot facility expansion has already enhanced the factory's potential to house both cell and module production.

Bringing solar cell production to our facility underscores our commitment to U.S. manufacturing, job creation, and a transparent, ethical supply chain."
