NVIDIA to produce $500B of AI infrastructure in the U.S. with manufacturing facilities in Texas and Arizona
NVIDIA has announced plans to build new AI supercomputer manufacturing facilities in Houston and Dallas, Texas, and expand production of its Blackwell chips in Phoenix, Arizona. The company, which designs and develops AI chips and high-performance computing technologies, plans to produce up to half a trillion dollars of AI infrastructure in the United States.
The planned manufacturing facilities will span over a million square feet across multiple sites. The Texas locations — operated in partnership with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas — will focus on producing NVIDIA AI supercomputers, with mass production scheduled to ramp up over the next 12 to 15 months.
In Arizona, production of the Blackwell chips has already started at TSMC’s semiconductor plants in Phoenix. Additional packaging and testing operations will be conducted with Amkor and SPIL, also located in Arizona.
To build and operate these facilities, NVIDIA will deploy its AI technologies, including NVIDIA Omniverse to design digital twins of the factories, and NVIDIA Isaac GR00T to automate manufacturing using robotics.
What people are saying
In a recent quote, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO, NVIDIA, said, “The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time. Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain and boosts our resiliency.”
