The new facility will produce high-voltage direct current submarine power cables to support offshore wind farm connections and power transmission networks.

LS GreenLink USA, Inc. has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Chesapeake, Virginia. The company, which specializes in the production of power cables, is investing $681 million into the project. The investment will create a major manufacturing hub for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine power cables, which are essential for connecting offshore wind farms and improving power transmission networks. The facility is expected to create a significant number of jobs and be fully operational by the first quarter of 2028.

The new plant will cover a 96.6-acre site and include a 750,000-square-foot manufacturing area. Additionally, the facility will feature a 660-foot VCV tower, which will be the tallest structure in Virginia. The first phase of development is set to break ground in April 2025, with the facility anticipated to be completed by the third quarter of 2027. The site will be developed in two phases, with the first phase focusing on half of the land, and the remainder of the site reserved for future growth. LS GreenLink’s new facility will produce essential components for offshore energy infrastructure, particularly HVDC submarine power cables.
