Verne invests $4.5M to open hydrogen storage vessel manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania
Verne Inc. has announced plans to open its first manufacturing facility in Muncy, Pennsylvania. The company, which develops hydrogen storage and energy distribution solutions, is investing nearly $4.5 million into the project, which is expected to create at least 61 new, full-time jobs.
Located in the Marcellus Energy Park, the facility will produce hydrogen storage vessels using Verne’s proprietary technology, which stores hydrogen in a cold-and-compressed state to increase its density and enable larger-volume transportation. The company will work closely with regional partners to optimize its supply chain and manufacturing processes.
The site will allow Verne to scale from development to commercial operations while contributing to the growth of the state’s energy infrastructure. The facility will sit on a property within a key energy hub, leveraging local expertise in critical manufacturing processes.
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has extended a funding offer to support the project, including a $1 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan, a $153,000 Pennsylvania First grant, and a $122,000 WEDnetPA grant for employee training. Verne may also apply for Research and Development tax credits.
What people are saying
In a recent quote, Ted McKlveen, Co-founder & CEO, Verne Inc., said, “After conducting a nationwide search, we determined that North Central Pennsylvania was the perfect place to establish our manufacturing footprint. The proximity to key partners in the region was a crucial factor, as it will allow Verne to leverage their expertise to optimize our supply chain and manufacturing processes. This facility will accelerate our impact in delivering energy to power critical industries that are currently not being served by our nation’s electricity grid.”
Governor Josh Shapiro, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, added, “Pennsylvania is making strategic investments to grow our innovation, energy, and manufacturing industries, and Verne clearly recognized that our Commonwealth is competing again because they chose us over Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia for its first manufacturing facility in the country. My Administration is proud to win deals like this that strengthen our local communities, grow our manufacturing sector, and position Pennsylvania as a national leader in innovation and job creation. We’re competing aggressively for private sector investment — and Pennsylvania is open for business.”
