ABB to invest $110 million on four US sites
ABB announced a new wave of investments totaling $110 million across four U.S. electrical equipment manufacturing sites September 16.
- ABB’s Pinetops, North Carolina facility will receive $35 million to increase its manufacturing capacity for advanced sensors and grid protection devices.
- ABB’s Richmond, Virginia site will receive $30 million for a new test center and additional assembly lines for power quality and protection products.
- ABB’s Arecibo, Puerto Rico site will receive $30 million to add three production lines for circuit breakers and switching devices.
- ABB’s Senatobia, Mississippi site will receive $15 million to build a new production line for the Emax 3 circuit breaker.
In a release, ABB estimated its plant expansions in Virginia and Puerto Rico will open up 100 and 90 new jobs, respectively.
The news follows a similar announcement in March the company would spend $120 million on sites in Tennessee and Mississippi as the company anticipates long-term demand for electricity will continue to rise due to the proliferation of power-hungry data centers. The Swiss electrical equipment and automation manufacturer also opened a new distribution center in Texas last month.
