Available now from NewAge Industries is Zelite polyethylene tubing in linear low density formulation (LLDPE). This formulation provides enhanced resistance to splitting during use over the low density type because of its increased elasticity. Zelite is applicable for air lines, chemical and fluid transfer, wire jacketing and decorative coverings, and pneumatics and instrumentation, among other uses.
Polyethylene, or PE, has long been recognized as an engineering plastic that exhibits a high degree of inertness, making it attractive for use in markets such as food and beverage, laboratory, and chemical processing where leaching or permeability presents risk. PE is also one of the lower-cost plastic materials and satisfies many requirements that call for inexpensive, lightweight tubing.
Zelite is manufactured from 100%, non-toxic, virgin grade, raw materials that conform to FDA standards. Chemically inert, it forms a good barrier to gases and moisture. In addition to its light weight and durability, Zelite offers good dielectric properties and withstands repeated flexing with little-to-no signs of wear.
Zelite has a semi-rigid nature, allowing a degree of flexibility but enough stiffness to be joined using push-to-connect fittings. It will remain flexible at temperatures well below 0°F/-17°C and offers a maximum operating temperature of 140°F/60°C.
A co-extruded version of polyethylene tubing – polyethylene-lined EVA – performs much like linear low density polyethylene tubing but provides a few additional features. Its ingredients conform to USP Class VI standards, and it provides greater flexibility over linear low density because of the bonded EVA cover.
Zelite is stocked in a dozen sizes ranging from 1/4" to 1-3/4" O.D. Six colors are available. Newloc(R) push-to-connect fittings are also stocked.
